When our tutors were asked the following questions, this is how they responded:
- Hobbies:
- Tin whistle, reading, gardening and travel.
Why do you want to be a tutor?
- Financial considerations aside, I would love to tutor because so often, a student is uncomfortable raising their hand to let the entire class know they simply do not get it. For a child to fall through the cracks for this reason, or for that matter any other, is inexcusable in my eyes. All students can achieve and it is my dream that they do.
Why should a student pick you?
- I am quick to establish a good rapport with students, and many find me a good person with whom they want to open up. I teach students that respect is a two-way street, and I will show them respect as long as they do so to me. I often learn as much from them as they do from me. I am a licensed teacher with Clark County, and am familiar with their curriculum.
Personal Statement:
- For me, it is more than tutoring, just as it is more than teaching. It is giving some students a chance to be better than they ever thought they could be. It is opening their eyes to what they can be instead of what they cannot.
